Into the Deep

“…that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19)

   I picture myself immersed, submerged in a vast ocean. It is not like any ocean on earth for it has no boundaries – no surface, no bottom, no shoreline. A deep endless sea teaming with life. I am completely at home in the deep, fully myself; yet, filled with the very substance of the deep as though it flows not just all around me, but from within me as well.

   This picture rises in me as I read Paul’s prayer that we would be filled up to all the fullness of God comprehending (grasp, fathom, understand, take hold of) the breadth, length, height, depth of the substance of His Eternal Realm, and in this to know the infinite love of Christ which does not come from human wisdom or knowledge. It comes from deep intimacy, and from that alone. The ocean is not God for He is self-existent, uncreated, eternal, First Cause of all that exists. The ocean issues forth from God and is held together, or consists, by His powerful Word. The substance of the Eternal World, this ocean of my picture, is pure energy alive with infinite frequency.

   Obviously, we are conscious of only a tiny, miniscule number frequencies of the Eternal World. The reason is simple. Any awareness depends on “bandwidth.” The definition is twofold: First, bandwidth is the smallest range of frequencies constituting a “band” within which a particular signal can be transmitted without distortion. Secondly, bandwidth is the energy or mental capacity required to deal with a situation, a person’s capacity to handle or think about more than one thing at a time.

   So, we have both transmission and reception. As human beings we are created to receive frequencies of Heaven within a certain bandwidth uniquely designed so we can ‘tune in’ without distortion. These frequencies keep our total being in correct alignment with God’s heart and release healing to correct anything within that is out of that alignment. The transmission is eternally present, our job is to dial it in.

   An old school illustration is radio of a few years ago; you know, the kind that actually had a dial which you turned that helped you detect the frequency of a station. As you ‘tuned in’ you pulled in the frequency of that station out of the innumerable frequencies available until you heard it clearly without static or distortion.

   Our problem is we pay little or no attention to frequencies allowing ourselves to be affected by them, often quite negatively, without realizing it at all. Consider it this way. Every frequency comes from God and is, therefore, pure in itself. Each has a divine purpose. However, not every frequency is beneficial to us in this earthly realm. In fact, there are countless frequencies outside our bandwidth of conscious awareness which are dangerous for us to ‘tune in’, not because they are evil but simply because they disrupt, distort the signals we are created to resonate with in this life. We will look at this more later, but for now it’s important to note these frequencies will not harm us at all unless they are ‘amplified’. Amplification of frequencies outside our bandwidth does not mean we begin to ‘hear’ them audibly, it simply means an intensification within us in such a way as to drown out other frequencies. That is precisely what is happening.

   With the coming of the Industrial Revolution and the more recent explosion of global technology, we are inundated with frequencies amplified in ways far beyond anything ever experienced before in the history of man. While it is true that this world has been plagued with wars, chaos, terrible holocausts and plagues since the Fall of Man in Genesis 3, never before have we seen such rapid increase of disease, social aggression, deviant behavior and more as we are seeing in these days. I believe there is a direct correlation between what we’re experiencing today and the amplification of frequencies that are disrupting our bodies, minds, spirits.

   You and I cannot eliminate every negative or harmful influence around us; but, we can counteract them and correct their effects. We can begin today by ‘tuning in’ to the frequencies we know bring life and health. By doing so, we will begin to build our immune system at the cellular level thus protecting us against the dis-eases and diseases of the day.
